February OMG – Check

My February Goal was not one, but two quilts.  I had bought on Black Friday a layer cake of  Behind the Scenes by Jen Kingwell for Moda.  And later in the day I bought a jolly bar pack of the same fabric.  Ok, this was not intentional, it was lack of memory over the course of maybe 3 hours.  I may be losing it, but that’s ok, since I had more fabric.

I decided to do two quilts that were the same with a slight variance in the color palette.  Wow, it sounds like I know what I’m doing.  I don’t.

I cut the layer cake into 5″ x 10″ blocks and added them to the jolly bar for a total of 126 pieces.  Then I separated them into tan/beige and black/grey for the two separate quilts.

Since I was just coming off of being sick for a few weeks, I was looking for simple so decided to just lay them out.

Here are the two tops.

These are the black tones.

And here are the beige tones.  They don’t look to different in these pictures.

Here are the backs.  I was pleased with how they turned out.  This color palette, or lack there of is out of my norm.

That is so funny that you forgot about the previous purchase!! The good news is you made two wonderful quilts!

The bad thing is it was only a hour or so apart! That Black Friday bug. If it's a good deal need to get it, even if I already have it on order.

I think the double purchase is entirely justified by two lovely quilts. The quilt backs are wonderful as well — they could just as easily be the fronts! Basically, you have 4 quilts for the intention of one.
