Christmas In April

Christmas in April is moving along here.  This quilt is my April OMG (One Monthly Goal) April OMG.

I wanted to make this quilt a little bigger than the original 58.5 square.  So I added piano keys with my leftover pieces from the layer cake.

Remember I bought a layer cake and a frivoli tin of this fabric.  The frivoli fabric was 7 x 7, so I cut my layer cake down to 7 x 7.  That left me with fabric to do these keys.  My first time and I must say I am quite proud I got them right and the corner pieces matched up “almost” perfect.

Great job on the piano keys and the bonus is fewer leftovers to angst about!

Layer cakes are really handy I think, I have two in my fabric stash and must get around to using them. Like your piano key border,

I always love a piano key border. Scary to see Christmas fabrics in April though. The year already seems to be going so quickly.

What a clever way to not only make your quilt bigger, but to also use up your layer cake fabrics! Great job on that border–it looks wonderful. Can’t wait to see this one finished as I’m curious about how you’ll quilt it.

Like the February Queen quilt the most. You made me panic with the idea of Christmas! It isn’t that far away when you are making something.

A great way to use up the last of the fabric! It does seem odd to see “Christmas In April”!! but I totally get it! Visiting from Sew Stitch Snap Share but also good luck with your OMG (I haven’t started on my goal yet)!!
