OMG Progress

Just a quick post today.  I am binding my April One Monthly Goal today.

I remember reading somewhere on the net about ironing your binding.  Of course, I can’t find it now.

If I remember right after it is sewn on they pressed it twice.  Once to the side and then once over the back.  I’m gonna try this process to see how it works.  I’m always looking for ways to improve my binding.

Anyone else iron their binding that many times?

I probably won’t be much help, but I don’t press my binding after it’s been sewn on. I guess I’ve always had good luck with my binding finish.

It’s great that you have almost finished your goal! I don’t iron my binding after sewing it on , you will have to tell us how it goes.

The only time I read about ironing your binding was in the first book in the Elm Creek Quilter series when they were teaching a newbie how to finish her quilt. Otherwise I don’t ironing my binding over but I that’s not a bad idea. I might try it.

I do! I also like to give it a bit of starch or sizing when I’m making it, which helps it ‘remember’ it’s shape after it has been pressed over the backside. It also helps with the mitering folds at each corner. My binding always looks really great, very smooth and even with sharp corners.

I just started ironing my binding, and wondering why I hadn’t thought to do it before. It makes it so much easier to stitch down. I think I read about it on Amanda Jean’s Crazy Mom Quilts blog.

Congrats on meeting your goal! I absolutely love the thread color choice of red! I cant help too much with the binding, as I am still finding my feet with them too.
