Basket from my Scraps

I had so many scraps from my Christmas quilt, I decided to use up a few and do a basket.  I used Noodle-Heads – Divided Basket Pattern.  Previously I had made a few of these and they were quick to make.  Of course, those were made with fat quarter pieces.  This one I used 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 scraps, so it took me a bit longer to put together.

I really love this red and gray Christmas fabric.  You can see the quilt here.

What was I thinking when I cut out the lining.  Obviously, I wasn’t thinking.  Of course it was the last piece of this cute red snowflake print.  So off to find something that would work.  Found a gray and it was the winner.

This turned out very cute and a bonus is it fit in the Ikea Expedit cubby.  But I’m not keeping it, it is being gifted with the quilt.

Used my last label, better get my butt in gear and reorder.

    Hi Jan,
Wow, this is a really cute basket. The fabrics! Just perfect, and a nice use of the leftovers. Oops on the lining, darn it, but I think the dark gray looks really, really nice. Maybe even better than the red. ~smile~ Roseanne

What a fun basket! I have those “what was I thinking” moments too, so I can relate. The grey fabric worked out nicely though.

Darling basket, I did not realize how big it was until you put it on the shelf. You are much more adventurous with your sewing than I am. I need to do more projects like this but then I’m again I’m not a very patient sewer.

That is a beautiful basket. I have made a few of those. I am surprised you stopped at just one because they are known to be addictive 🙂

What a cute little basket and how neat that it fits in your shelf….guess you’ll have to make another one for yourself. Sorry about the lining…..I have done things like that before too.

Red and gray are fantastic together and I like how you quilted it in red thread! Very nice!
