My First Letter Block

In late October I ordered Spelling Bee by Lori Holt.  I thought it would be a great book to have.  When I browsed through I decided that a quilt for each of the grand daughters would be perfect with their names added.

You know I am a HST and simple block girl, so this was out of my comfort zone.  I pulled out some scraps and tried the letter S.

I think I did good.  Now is the time to get busy planning two quilts with their names.  Maybe Valentine gifts, if not Easter or Birthdays are in the summer.

Making a word quilt is on my 2018 list! I just need to pick a saying and I’m all set! I think putting names on quilts is such a fun and great idea!

Your S block is superb, love the colors. Isn’t this funny, I just pulled my book out last week to look at and was getting inspired to make some letter blocks, I must have been picking up your vibe. I’m going to be making some letter blocks for my granddaughter too.

That looks cute with the multiple colors. That’s the one I’d make first. =)

Yay for breaking out of your comfort zone! Your S looks great. And now I’m looking more closely at the Spelling Bee pattern. I just was perusing the Jaybird Quilts’ Alphabet pattern, having gotten the Hex n More ruler for Christmas. So many alphabets, so little time…
