Double 9 Patch

I get to Quilt Along with the Fat Quarter Shop – Double 9 Patch.   Back a bit ago, they were looking for quilters for an upcoming project.  I replied and was accepted.  I’ve said this before, but it feels like when you were a kid and the cool kids asked you to join them.  I feel like a cool kid.

The QAL was for a Double 9 Patch block.  This was a first for me. In the few years I’ve been quilting, I didn’t really do many blocks.  I’ve challenged myself to do more blocks in 2018, so this is a good start.

I pulled out some scrap Cotton & Steel strips and some white Kona strips and got to cutting and sewing.

Surprisingly it went together quickly.  Except for a small rip out because I didn’t pay enough attention to my nesting seam.

Here is my block  Not bad for a first #double9patchquilt.

I like your C&S block! So fun. By the way, I notice that Tracie of Riceford Streams IG handle is wrong. Tracie is a friend of mine. I opted out of the Double 9 Patch, but it’s going to be fun to see all the quilts!

    Hi Jan,
The nine-patch is one of my favorite and go-to blocks. How fun to make a double-nine-patch! I’ve never made that block before but I can sure see how it would make a cute quilt. And, I totally can understand the cool kid concept – you ARE a cool kid. ~smile~ Roseanne

I have to confess, didn’t notice it was your blog at first, just saw the C+S fabrics and I hit the brakes on my scrolling. You did great, love how you put the fabrics together. It’s funny I was looking at my 9 patch book this morning and thinking this would make a fun exchange. You beat me to it. Stay warm and sew happy.

Hey, cool kid! That’s a great block. I like them because they are … scrappy! They should invite you again, you did a great job.
