Squiggles QAL Top

My top for the Squiggles QAL is complete.  I enjoyed making this top and using an layer cake from my stash of  Basic Mixologie by Moda.  I had eyed that layer cake in the local quilt shop for awhile and finally bought it after several visits.  Then it just sat in the box waiting for it’s turn to shine.  I think it was a perfect choice.

Of course, I had issues with the simple pattern.  Again I am having issues with my scant 1/4″ seams, so I needed to trim my blocks for consistency.  That meant losing some of the quilt size.  My blocks were trimmed to a perfect 4 1/2 square.  In my haste, when I was trimming them, the first few blocks I didn’t trim consistently, so my seams didn’t match up correctly.  So this is my imperfect, perfect quilt top.

Need to head off to find some backing for the top and get it completed.  Completing this quilt is my February One Monthly Goal.  Might be a tough one this month, since we will be on a road trip for a week or two.

Your quilt looks great! I joined this QAL too, but I won’t start sewing until today. Since it’s so cold outside, I think I’ll get a lot done this weekend.

Your quilt is beautiful! I love the pops of yellow and orange throughout. It brings in so much light. Good luck finishing it this month!

We quilters are our worst critics. Yes, you might have some blocks that don’t quite match up but not to worry. The quilt looks wonderful. I preach — don’t worry about the “issues” and don’t point them out — but I do it too. Sigh. I might have to add it to my some day I’ll make list.

The quilt looks terrific, Jan. I am not done, as I thought I would be, so hopefully by tomorrow’s end I have a top. Enjoy your trip and enjoy the process, it will get done when it does. Hope you find the perfect back. Reminds me I should wash mine that just arrived!

I’m going to have the same problems and expect some points not to match; I figure the quilting will help to hide it. Still on vacation and had no access to wifi for the entire week. I have a lot of catching up to do when I get home. I love your fabric choice; the colors are beautiful.

I love your squiggles and the perfect colors for it. I wanted to do this one too, but knew it would become a UFO because of time, and I didn’t need another UFO!

This is so beautiful! No one is going to measure your quilt to see if it’s the “correct” size anyway!

So pretty! Nice range of colors. And no worries about being perfect. I read somewhere that the Amish quilters would deliberately make an error on each quilt, since only God can be perfect. :o)
