November Bee Blocks

November seemed like a long time when we started the hive blocks in January.  I was living in Michigan, snowy and cold.  Now it is the end of the hive year and we are in sunny South Carolina with mid 70’s and sun.

First up for Mariann in our Swarm Lily Pad hive is Jagged Little Pill  by Blossom Heart Quilts.  This is a great block and is quick to put together.

Next up is Quatrefoil again by Blossom Heart Quilts.  I’ve been in Blossom Heart Bees for several years and this is the first time for this block.  It was also quick to put together.  I would have imagined these colors together, but I think when Rachel of our IG HoneyBees hive puts it together it will be beautiful.

My last hive is Stash Bee Hive 1, Pam is our queen and she put this rather simple block pattern together for us.  Did my first block and they didn’t match up at all when I sew them together.  Here is my second attempt, see that a beautiful 16″ block, but it is suppose to be 16.5″.

For this one, I followed each direction carefully.  Funny how that works.  Perfect block.  It is much bigger than 16.5″, but Pam said don’t worry, she will trim them up.  So I sent both to her, incase she gets others at 16″ and needs to trim them all down to 16″.

Earlier in the year I had a few folks ask about hives and how to join.  Well it is that time of year.

All are beautiful blocks! Sometimes even with extreme care blocks just don’t come out the size they are suppose to! Irritating and perplexing to me!

Hi Jan! All of your blocks looks great. I think Rachel will be thrilled with her blocks. I’m working on mine this week/weekend as well so I’ll get them in the mail on Monday. I’m still missing 8 of my blocks from October – I can’t start on my quilt top yet. ~smile~ Roseanne

So is Gwen Marceline in your bee? She is in my guild and now in my Thursday bee and she just showed this quatrefoil block. I do love both the bee blocks this month.

That jagged little pill block doesn’t look like anything until a number of blocks are put together–interesting!! Great job keeping ahead of the month, Jan!
