March Hive Blocks

Another month means a new round of Bee Blocks.

First up was a fun block, Blossom Heart Quilts – Double Star.  Jen was our queen and she teals and blacks.  This is my version.

My next hive block was for Jennifer, she chose Trail of Geese.  Let me tell you, this one kicked my but.  I did learn that after ripping out 6 times, you can no longer keep going on paper piecing.  There is no paper left.  But I made it through and it turned out cute.

Last but not least, I am the queen in another of my bees.  I am in three bees this year, I was January queen, March queen and a July queen.  For my March reign, I picked the Blossom Heart Quilts – Ripple block.

Now that I have my March hive blocks done, it is time to go get my daily 10,000 steps and then I can get working on my March goal.

Wow! I don’t know which of these blocks I like best – they’re all fantastic! I learned the same PP lesson as you so I had to giggle when I read that.

Great looking blocks! Trail of Geese does look like it might take some patience; way to persevere.

I do like that block! You did a fantastic job regardless of having some troubles!

Is the green part of the Trail of Geese block turned the wrong way? It looks like the colored triangles should form a circle. Or maybe the pattern emerges when more blocks are put together.

I love all the blocks. You did a fabulous job! Those geese are challenging and they look perfect from here.

These are lovely blocks all and I admire your persistence. I am new to quilting and can’t get over all the very talented quilters I am learning about. Happy Stitching.

I think all of your blocks look fabulous! I do wonder why you were doing so much ripping of your paper pieced blocks. Is it because your fabric pieces turned out to be too small once they were pressed open? There is a genius trick to that that I read on someone else’s blog ages ago.

When I did trail of geese for a bee it kicked my but as well.

Beautiful blocks, Jan! I did my cutting for trail of geese last night but measured my template first. It seemed to me that the pieces are sized too small so I added some extra leeway with size and I’m hoping it will keep me out of trouble!

    Hi Jan,
All of your March blocks look fabulous. That second one, for Jennifer with the gray background is just gorgeous. I’m sorry it gave you fits but it sure turned out great. ~smile~ Roseanne

Love the star block. Paper piecing has been tricky for me. I tried a simpler pattern with freezer paper and that seemed to go much better. Have not tried any lately. 10K steps??? I try but rarely achieve. Good luck with your goals and have fun.

Great bee blocks! I really like the scrappy block you picked for your bee block.
