Scraps for Jack’s Basket

During the hurricane weather and loss of power, I decided to cut fabric to pass the time.  All my scraps that were large enough were cut into 2 1/2 inch strips.  There were strips from about 2 inches to full jelly roll strips.  I thought I would do something like a jelly roll jam quilt and just start sewing strips together, then sew those together, then again.  I didn’t like how that turned out so it was time to cut them up.

I cut them into 6 1/2 inch blocks.

The made those into HSTs, my favorite block.

Put them together and quilted the top.  Oops can you see the problem here.  Three rows in one direction and the other two in a different direction.  This quilt will have a mixed feature, that is how I will see my error.

Ready for some binding.

Found this cute piece of fabric for the backing.  All washed and ready to go with the others to Jacks Basket.

Go off today and have a great day!

Today I’m getting back into linking up my finishes.  I am linking up with:

Really pretty quilt. I love the “mixed feature”. I made a quilt for Jack’s Basket too this year.

Hi Jan! This is a fun quilt. I just LOVE how you put those strips to great use and those HSTs look fab. I never would have noticed there was an issue, and I’ll bet some love bundle at Jack’s Basket won’t either. They’ll feel all the love you stitched into this piece. I hope that you are getting back to normal from the hurricane? {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

What an awesome scrappy quilt! Just because you didn’t intend the “feature” in this quilt doesn’t mean it’s not fantastic. I think it gives interest. If you hadn’t said it was unintended, I would have thought it was supposed to be that way.
