Red White and Blue

It has been a  long time.  Lots has been going on, but quilting has been on the back burner. Last fall I put together a red, white and blue quilt using Star Trails by A Bright Corner Shop

Used all fabric from my stash.  Kind of, I had to order a new bolt of Kona white.

Got everything cut out.  Then put the blocks together.

Layed the blocks out and then got to sewing them together.

Hubbies birthday was coming up so need to get this done.  Originally it was suppose to be his Christmas gift, doctor appointments got in the way of that.

Have the top together and time for a sandwich.  Man I am feeling old doing this on the floor!!

I have this sandwich together and can’t figure out how I am so off on my rows.  The star points are in the white rows so I can’t just move the rows down.  I decide to quilt it as is and trim after, which will make the quilt a bit smaller and that is ok.

Here it is finished and bound.  You can see I was lucky, when I trimmed it up I still had all the stars.  One is right to the edge, but it worked.  I know some folks will say you should have ripped it out and corrected, but I’m not worried about perfect on this one.

On health news, I am half way through my chemo for my Triple Negative Breast Cancer diagnosis.  Twelve more weeks, then onto surgery and radiation.

I was able to get to QuiltCon 2023 in Atlanta for one day.  Drove over after my chemo, spent Thursday at the show.  My big purchases were an ironing board, Ironmatik.  They had a great show price and shipped it.  I also bought some rope and a few kits from The Mountain Thread Company  I’ve watched a few of their tutorials and love their items.  I hope to get some going in the future.

What a great finish, Jan! Great save on all the star points!!! That looks like quite the mighty ironing board! The black is very chic, too. Mostly I’m glad to hear you’re halfway through chemo and you keep moving forward, even to QC!

Way to regroup and create a beautiful quilt. I like it done as red, white and blue piece. Very Patriotic. Wishing you a full recovery.
