June Bee Blocks

Can you believe it is half way through 2108, I can’t.  It has been a very busy year and I try to get my Bee Blocks done first thing each month.  I don’t like to be late.

I was able to get the June Bee Blocks done in my temporary quilting space.  Only problem is that I have packed up most of my scraps, so I had do buy many FQs.

My first block is for Em and it is a very scrappy block.  I’ve never really done scrappy and I was glad to find a few fabrics to use.  Her request was for  a bunch of scraps of the same color. Add a couple of scraps from a color adjacent on the color wheel. Of course I had to google the color wheel to be sure I was good.  Once I had it done, I really like this block.  I could see more of these in my future once I unpack my scraps.

Second block is Blossom Heart Quilts – Abacus.  Rita chose to have her blocks done in reds and greens for Christmas.  I was pleasantly surprised that my trees worked so nice in each piece.   Almost like I planned it that way, we all know I was lucky.  I am anxious to see all her blocks done.

Last but not least is the block for Sandy, it is Blossom Heart Quilts – Treasure Hunt.  She wanted batiks, you guessed it, I had none so a trip to the LQS was in order.  Our little shop in town has minimal batiks, so I hope these work out, or I may be doing another block.

Oh, wish I’d known, I could’ve sent you some batiks! Those blocks look good. I was just wondering about you and how you were doing with your moving!

Love the colors of your first bee block, Jan! Is the abacus block paper piecing? The batiks you were able to come up with look great! I’m sure the queen bee will love it. Great job getting your blocks done so early!

The first block is so much fun! Sorry you had to buy as your scraps are packed. It does drive me crazy when I need things I can’t get to! Meanwhile, WordPress move is done, now just figuring out a few things! Thanks for the reference to Pipdig.

Lack of scraps is a serious disorder for any quilter 🙂 Glad you could find some FQs for the purpose. Hawthorne threads sells scrap packs and you can get Moda Scrap Bags from Hancocks. The results are almost always a mixed bag – some you’ll like and others will be just blah. On the upside all your scrappy blocks came out gorgeous. The first one is my favorite. But the abacus is really intriguing too.
